Celerity, is pleased to announce the appointment of Stephen Leonard as Board Advisor. Leonard will support Celerity’s strategic expansion into the US IBM Power marketplace, with a focus on scaling the company’s flagship cyber-resilience solution, Copy Assure.
Stephen Leonard brings decades of global leadership experience from senior roles including CEO of IBM UK, General Manager of IBM Americas, global leader of IBM Power Solutions, and President of Kyndryl Germany. He has a long track record of driving large-scale transformation, strengthening strategic partnerships, and advancing enterprise cloud adoption across international markets.
Accelerating CopyAssure’s Global Reach
In his advisory role, Leonard will help accelerate the growth of CopyAssure, Celerity’s cyber recovery and data resilience offering built specifically for IBM Power environments, both on-premises and in the cloud. Developed in-house by Celerity, CopyAssure delivers enterprise-class protection and rapid recovery of critical systems—an increasingly urgent priority as organisations face evolving cyber threats.
Leonard’s deep understanding of the challenges surrounding cyber resilience positions him to provide valuable guidance as Celerity brings CopyAssure to a wider global audience, particularly in the United States.
Building on Strong Growth
Since our founding in 2002, Celerity has grown from a North West–based technology provider into a trusted leader in cybersecurity, data protection and data visualisation services. Backed by a £15 million investment from BGF in 2021, we have broadened our service portfolio, deepened our strategic partnerships and executed targeted acquisitions to strengthen our capabilities. In 2024, we welcomed Craig Aston as CEO to lead the business into its next phase of growth, ensuring we continue to innovate and deliver market-leading solutions for our customers.
Stephen Leonard said:
“I’m passionate about fostering innovation through partnerships and empowering teams, so I’m thrilled to be working with a company as ambitious and resilient as Celerity. My focus on the US market will help the business reach more organisations seeking to modernise and strengthen their critical infrastructure.”
Craig Aston, CEO of Celerity, added:
“We’ve seen strong progress since BGF’s investment, and Stephen’s insight will be vital as we build on that momentum. Our team brings deep industry expertise and accredited technical skills, fuelled by a passion for partnering with our customers—and Stephen will fit right in. His leadership experience and deep understanding of IBM ecosystems will play a key role in driving our next phase of expansion.”
