The company delivers electricity to over 7.8 million customers over a service area of 55,300 sq. km. The Challenge

Oscar Mayer faced challenges typical of the chilled food industry, where even brief downtime risked spoilage, revenue loss, and customer trust. With continuous uptime essential and cyber threats on the rise, they needed a robust solution combining high availability and disaster recovery to protect data integrity and ensure seamless operations.

The Solution

Oscar Mayer implemented IBM Flash Systems with HyperSwap and CopyAssure in an active-active configuration to ensure resilience and uninterrupted operations.

With both systems actively managing workloads, HyperSwap provided seamless failover so that if one system went down, the other automatically took over without disruption. This setup delivered near-zero downtime, even during planned maintenance or unexpected outages. By positioning the two systems in separate locations, Oscar Mayer also achieved geographic redundancy, adding an extra layer of protection against localised disruptions while maintaining continuous data availability.
